Arnaud Rebillard

I am a French researcher, currently working at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin as a PhD student, enrolled at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

My research focuses on bromalites: fossilised digestive remains such as coprolites (fossilised faeces), regurgitalites (fossilised vomit) or consumulites (prey remains preserved within a consumer). I am interested in bromalites from all geological periods and depositional environments as these remarkable fossils offer unique insights into the diets, feeding behaviours, and physiology of ancient organisms, as well as the structure and functioning of past ecosystems.

I mainly work with 3D X-ray microtomography and geochemical analyses to extract as much information as possible from these exceptional fossils. I am also constantly exploring new approaches and innovative techniques to uncover previously inaccessible data and push the boundaries of what bromalites can tell us about life in the past.
